Project summary

As future leaders, young people hold the key to shaping a more just, equitable, and sustainable society. Still, many lack the knowledge, skills, and opportunities to fully engage in these areas. This project, envisaged as a 24-month activity, encompasses 11 partners from youth, trade union, educational and research sector representing 7 countries, aiming to bridge that gap. It tends to empower young trade union (TU) members to become active participants in decision-making processes, both within their unions and broader society, providing them with the necessary knowledge, information and tools. Therefore, its specific objectives will be:

1. To enhance youth engagement within TU structures by 1) creating the conditions for development (research), 2) developing (expert group work) and 3) testing (TU academies) a structured, needs-based educational program for empowerment of young activists with information, knowledge and skills;

2. To strengthen cross-border cooperation and networking among young TU activists, creating a unified European platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration, at the initial phase including directly 7 trade unions and more than 200 young activists.

3. To improve the visibility and attractiveness of TUs for young people, both through media presentation, modernization of communication strategies and incorporating digital tools to enhance outreach and engagement, reaching at least 700,000 people in the final instance.

It will include following activities: research on the needs of young people within TUs; expert group work on development of universal educational program for capacity building of young TU activists; implementation of 1 joint and 6 national TU academies for program testing; development of the interactive web platform as a support educational tool, as well as set of meetings with EPSU in order to advocate for the program institutionalization, and accompanying online campaign aimed at better visibility of TUs in wider community.
